Starters

As a sample of our traditional menu, we recommend starting with some of our classic Greek appetizers, such as our creamy tzatziki dip or crispy spanakopita pastry. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try our succulent keftedes meatballs or tangy melitzanosalata dip made with roasted eggplant.

Salads

Greek cuisine features a variety of salads that are fresh, colorful, and bursting with flavor. Here are some popular Greek salads we offer at Thessaloniki Snack Bar

Greek Salad

(Horiatiki Salata): This is the most well-known Greek salad, made with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green bell peppers, Kalamata olives, and feta cheese. It’s dressed with olive oil, salt, and oregano.

Dakos

This salad is made with a traditional Cretan barley rusk, topped with chopped tomatoes, feta cheese, and olives. It’s dressed with olive oil and vinegar.

Beetroot Salad (Pantzaria Salata

This salad is made with boiled beets, chopped onion, parsley, and feta cheese. It’s dressed with olive oil and vinegar.

Tuna Salad (Tonosalata)

This salad is made with canned tuna, boiled potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, chopped onions, and olives. It’s dressed with olive oil and lemon juice.

Pasta

Even though pasta isn’t typically found in Greek recipes, you can find creative and tasty uses for it in many Greek dishes. Some of  our most well-loved pasta recipes include:

Yiouvetsi

This is a baked pasta dish made with orzo pasta, beef or lamb, tomatoes, onions, and spices. It’s baked in the oven until the pasta is tender and the meat is cooked to perfection.

Makaronia me Kima

This is a simple yet delicious dish made with spaghetti, ground meat, tomato sauce, and spices. It’s often served with grated cheese on top.

Kritharaki

This is a pasta dish made with small rice-shaped pasta, often served with shrimp or other seafood. It’s often flavored with tomato sauce and spices.

At Thessaloniki Taverna we offer many delicious meat dishes. Here are some traditional meat plates you can taste.

Souvlaki

grilled skewered meat (usually pork, but sometimes chicken or lamb) served with pita bread, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce.

Moussaka

a baked casserole made with layers of eggplant, ground meat (usually beef or lamb), potatoes, and a creamy béchamel sauce.

Kleftiko

a slow-cooked lamb dish, marinated in lemon, garlic, and herbs, and baked in parchment paper or aluminum foil until tender and juicy.

Paidakia

grilled lamb chops, usually marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, and herbs, and served with lemon wedges and potatoes.
